About Sanlorenzo

Sanlorenzo was founded in 1958 by Giovanni Jannetti, initially focusing on the construction of bespoke wooden yachts. The company's early years were characterized by a commitment to custom builds. In 1985, Sanlorenzo transitioned to fiberglass construction, adapting to evolving industry trends while retaining its focus on tailor-made vessels. Massimo Perotti acquired the shipyard in 2005. Under Perotti's leadership, Sanlorenzo expanded its product portfolio and production capacity. The company operates multiple shipyards in Italy, each specializing in different yacht lines. Ameglia focuses on fiberglass and composite yachts up to 38 meters. La Spezia is dedicated to the production of superyachts in metal (steel and aluminum), from 40 to 70 meters. Viareggio produces composite superyachts from 40 to 60 meters. The Massa site is used for the production of yacht components. Sanlorenzo maintains a strategy of limited annual production to preserve exclusivity and customization options for clients. The company has developed various yacht series, including planing, semi-displacement, and explorer yachts. They often collaborate with external designers for both interior and exterior styling, allowing for diverse aesthetic approaches across their range. Sanlorenzo has also explored hybrid propulsion systems in some of its designs and has shown a focus on custom solutions in its larger yacht projects. The shipyard has a history of producing both motor yachts and, for a period, sailing yachts, although its current focus is on motor yacht production. The company became publicly listed on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2019. Sanlorenzo's production is geared towards the luxury yacht market, emphasizing customization and contemporary design while incorporating traditional craftsmanship.
