Ortona Navi

Ortona Navi S.p.A. was an Italian shipyard located in Ortona, on the Adriatic coast. The company was founded in 1999 and became known for the construction and refit of large yachts. Ortona Navi's facilities included a large covered construction shed, which allowed for year-round construction regardless of weather conditions, and refit infrastructure.

The shipyard specialized in steel and aluminum construction, often working on custom projects and larger vessels. They were involved in both new construction projects and significant refit and conversion works for superyachts. Their capabilities included handling complex engineering and outfitting. Over its operational period, Ortona Navi completed several projects ranging across different yacht types, contributing to its reputation in the superyacht sector.

In 2011, Ortona Navi delivered the 50-meter explorer yacht 'Stella di Mare' (now 'Seawolf'), which was designed by Tommaso Spadolini with naval architecture by Studio Tencara S.R.L. This project demonstrated the shipyard's capacity for building robust, long-range vessels. Another significant new build was the 50-meter yacht 'Karia', launched in 2007. The shipyard also undertook extensive refit projects, such as the major refit of the 70-meter classic motor yacht 'Talitha G' in the early 2000s, which involved comprehensive structural, mechanical, and interior updates.

Following financial difficulties, Ortona Navi entered liquidation proceedings. The shipyard's assets, including its facilities and equipment, were subject to judicial sale processes. Despite its relatively short operational history under the Ortona Navi S.p.A. name, the shipyard made contributions to the Italian superyacht industry, particularly in the custom and refit segments for larger yachts. The site in Ortona later saw renewed activity under different ownership, continuing the tradition of shipbuilding and refit in the area.
