Lloyds Ships

Lloyds Ships was an Australian shipbuilding company that operated from the 1980s through to the early 2000s. The company was founded by Robert (Bob) Lloyds. Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Lloyds Ships initially focused on commercial vessels, including patrol boats and ferries. In the mid-1980s, the shipyard diversified into the luxury yacht market, building a number of custom motor yachts.

Lloyds Ships became known for producing large displacement and semi-displacement motor yachts, primarily in aluminum. Their yachts often featured distinct exterior styling and were built to order for individual clients. The company utilized its experience in commercial vessel construction to inform its yacht-building processes, aiming for robust construction.

Over its operational period, Lloyds Ships delivered a range of motor yachts, many of which were among the larger private yachts built in Australia at the time. The shipyard's output included yachts like the 40-meter 'MY SEANNA' (originally 'PRINCESS GLORIA') and the 57-meter 'LADY ANNA' (later 'SAILAWAY', 'FINALISTA', 'INDIGO').

Lloyds Ships experienced changes in ownership and management during its history. The company eventually ceased operations in the yacht-building sector, with its facilities later being associated with other maritime industrial activities in Brisbane.
