About Abeking & Rasmussen

Abeking & Rasmussen was established at Lemwerder on the Weser in 1907 by Georg Abeking and Henry Rasmussen. From the outset the yard worked on both commercial and pleasure craft, and that dual identity still defines it: alongside its yachts, Abeking & Rasmussen builds minehunters, pilot vessels and SWATH craft for navies and authorities across Europe.

That naval engineering culture shows in the yachts. A&R hulls are known for structural rigour, low noise and vibration signatures, and an obsessive approach to systems integration rather than showmanship. The yard pioneered the SWATH concept in the yacht world and has delivered a long list of quietly significant vessels, including Vera, Excellence, Aviva and Cloudbreak, often working with Espen Øino, Tim Heywood and Reymond Langton.

Still family-controlled and privately held, Abeking & Rasmussen occupies the discreet end of the German superyacht sector — a yard chosen by owners who value engineering substance and long-term build quality over brand visibility.
